Lean Certification, Gold Level

Earning the Lean Gold Certification recognizes your understanding of all aspects of Lean transformation across and entire enterprise.

It represents your career progression to a point of influence and authority over assets, processes and people.

This is the highest level of lean certification a candidate can earn.

Steps to Lean Gold Certification
You must complete requirements that include education, knowledge, experience and mentoring. You must have also completed the requirements for the Lean Bronze and Silver Certifications.

After you apply for the Lean Gold Certification, you will receive a comprehensive kit to help you prepare.

Body of Knowledge
To earn this certification, you should demonstrate your understanding of the Lean Certification Body of Knowledge (PDF), including:

Setting goals, gap analysis, project management
Teamwork, team facilitation, team selection
Tactical results measurement (initial goal, results to goals, gaps)

Autonomation (jidoka)
Cells, one-piece flow
Continuous improvement (kaizen)
Cost, productivity results
Customer demand pace (takt time)
Customer requirements, satisfaction
Distribution, logistics, delivery
Flow
Identifying value added/non-value added work

Experience Portfolio
You must provide documentation of your leadership of an ongoing business lean transformation.

You will also provide records of 4 value stream transformations, one in each of the following areas:

  • Demand - from potential customer to order placement
  • Delivery - form order to receipt of product (demand satisfied)
  • Development - new product development (potential or confirmed customer need to first delivery to customer)
  • Support - administrative linkage for the above value streams; post delivery customer support

Your organization will be examined to the Shingo Prize Criteria independently or in conjunction with a recognized Shingo Prize partner.

Mentoring
You must show that you have developed a training strategy and delivery for Knowledge Certificate holders and/or Bronze- or Silver-level certified practitioners.

Exam
You must submit your portfolio and take an exam. The open-book 150-question exam takes three hours.

Plan your next step
Your Lean Gold Certification is valid for 3 years. You will be required to continue your education and experience as you pursue recertification.
